This week the sensitive coaches pHiloSoPhy wrote a teeny tiny book and ‘self-published’ it. It’s the sort of book I wish I could have read when I was eight. You can sit back, watch and listen while I read the book to you, or read it to yourself, below. Or both! Either way, you’ll find a reflective activity at the bottom of the page once you’ve listened and/or read.
I hope you love hearing and reading it as much as I loved writing and creating it. Ready?
Imagine if we could see our brilliance like others do... welcome to The Other Side of the Moon…
As she looked through the silver telescope, she jumped, blinking deliberately twice. Stumbled backwards. Startled as two eyes blinked back. She cautiously glanced around the room to see who the icy blue eyes belonged to, but no-one stood there at the other end. Holding her breath, she dared to lean towards the translucent lens again, noticing a tiny rainbow smeared there.
She gasped, her hand flew to her heart. Silver blue eyes with tiny glinting stars like specks of glitter smiled back. She could sense they were kind, didn’t need to feel afraid. The hairs on her skin sighed relief and lay back down.
I… Who… You… What… Where… I…?, words washed away by a flood of breath.
It’s me of course. Don’t you recognise me? You gaze up at me seeking answers often enough, her eyes sparkled with love.
Mumma Moon… she exhaled slowly. How is this possible?
I know, chuckled Mumma Moon gently, a tease in her affection. You found the back-to-front telescope, she patiently explained.
There are only four in the World. One for each season. They only work when the stars are aligned. Only then can I illuminate what you need to let go of in Autumn, reflect on in Winter, let emerge in Spring, and allow to bloom in Summer.
But… I… Eh… How?, she stammered.
When the exact midpoint of the season on Earth is perfectly aligned with me becoming full, and someone in need asks a big question of themselves. Then, and only then, you will see in the dark, glowed Mumma Moon.
What question did I ask?, she tried to shake it back out of her skull.
Don’t you remember? Mamma Moon asked kindly.
She shook her head slowly, peach juice stained her cream cheeks, as she lowered her gaze.
The same question you’ve asked me ever since you were a little girl, reminded Mumma Moon.
What can someone like me possibly have to bring to a World that’s already too full, too much?, wHiSPered the woman.
Mumma Moon’s beams pulsated. Knowing the girl as she did, it was time.
I’ve watched over you all these years, breathed Mumma Moon, heard you doubt yourself, imagine the worst, fear the best, her snowflake eyes filled with the clearest tears you ever saw.
Felt your pain, your longing, your desire, swallowed Mumma Moon. Lit your path hoping you would see what I see in you, Mumma Moon nodded slightly to herself, it was time.
Urged you to see what naturally shines out of you, she said with pride, here, come in closer to the back-to-front telescope, see what I see.
The girl felt fizzy inside, trusting Mumma Moon, she leant in closer, and quicker than a split second, found herself on the other side of the back-to-front telescope held by Mumma Moon.
Look, can you see more clearly now… paused Mumma Moon, as they both gazed down at the woman on Earth. You are creative, intuitive, imaginative. Spark hope in possibilities, co-create change for the better, lit up Mumma Moon.
You spot patterns, make deep connections, are insightful. You have an ability to help others understand themselves. You notice the details, the subtleties, and take care with them, helping others make their own meaning, Mumma Moon highlighted.
You value honesty, integrity and ethics. You are about depth, quality, meaning and purpose. You are curious and ask the big questions that lead to transformation, glowed Mumma Moon.
Your depth of processing and thoughtfulness are precious qualities. Gifts that come with being you. It’s exactly because of your sensitivity you are destined to be who you are and do the wonderful work you do, Mumma Moon shone.
You are emotionally intelligent because of the delicious alchemy of your own self-awareness, empathy, and emotionality. You have a unique ability to understand the human condition and help others to find their way, beamed Mumma Moon.
You feel things deeply, are compassionate, and have intimate conversations and relationships. You are comfortable with others’ emotions inviting them to be themselves. And when those you work with feel relief, pride, excitement, possibility, energy shifts, you get to feel it too, Mumma Moon sparkled.
Sensitivity is a strength, something to cherish, and take care of. You have a special place and purpose in your world, see! And your world needs you exactly as you are. Be yourself, and keep using your natural abilities to make the World a better place, illuminated Mumma Moon.
Always be vulnerable, brave and daring!
Sensitively,

Reflective Questions for You:
Gather up your favourite journal, find a good place to sit where you can see the moon and stars above, get comfortable. Maybe light your favourite candle and ponder these questions:
Where did you recognise yourself in ‘The Other Side of the Moon’?
What of your brilliance do others see more easily than you?
How do your clients experience you from the other end of the telescope?
Bonus activity: Be vulnerable, brave and daring… share one line of insight from your reflections in the comments below :

I really enjoyed listening to you reading your tiny book and turning those lovely crinkly pages - inspiring!
I would have loved this so much when I was little - would have added it to my collection of tiny books!
