It’s as if I Know How to be Like This
On returning to our true essence, to before
It’s as if I Know How to be Like This
You’ve learnt to be different Of course. The place I know best, that knows me best The hardest to remember, never really left. Held by my body My nest. Safe within myself, my Self the true bit that came first The original essence, purest energy. My place of wisdom The whole first true self. From which I can witness parts, be with them Recognise good intentions, be grateful. My body holds the memory Skin fits, I can be me. Bones bend, not break, muscles feel lighter and brave Gut instinct knows unshakeable truth, brain makes sense, I belong Heart feels content, pumps peace, lungs unclench, let go, release. Curious, compassionate, confident Like a child. Take your hand, search your eyes, skip along rhyming words Imaginative, playful and carefree, giggling Pure, giving unconditional love, like sunbeams. This place is before.
Always be vulnerable, brave and daring!
Sensitively yours,
Gentle Gillian x
Reflective Questions For You:
You know you best in the world. Always have, always will. Yet, at times, we can feel we don’t know ourselves at all. As you read the poem above, ponder these questions:
What do you remember about the place that is your first whole true self?
What does your body remember about the place of you?
When is your place before?
Bonus activity: In one of my favourite songs, Somewhere Only We Know by Keane, the writers capture beautifully:
And if you have a minute, why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So, why don't we go somewhere only we know? Somewhere only we know
I invite you to close your eyes and listen to the song, let your body move however it may choose, let whatever the words and music stir in you swirl, take some deep breaths…
Then, when you’re ready, pick up your pen, and write what wants to be written.
Uncup your hands, let your words take flight, by sharing some of them with your fellow sensitive souls here in the sensitive coaches pHiloSoPhy in a comment below; be vulnerable, brave and daring:
